It has been one year since Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG hit the big screens. Following an earth-shattering opening at the box office, the film sustained its momentum over the long run. As announced at the end of the first film, a direct sequel titled OG 2 is currently under development. Interacting with fans on the eve of the first instalment’s one-year anniversary, writer-director Sujeeth Reddy admitted that there were some logical errors in the writing of They Call Him OG. He also promised to address those shortcomings and deliver a more refined screenplay in the sequel. His comments have naturally raised expectations around how the story will progress in OG 2.
A Production Hell
For those unaware, They Call Him OG went through multiple delays and production halts, primarily due to Pawan Kalyan’s political commitments. The actor-politician’s packed schedule reportedly affected the film’s production several times before it finally reached theatres. Considering the response to the first instalment, reports suggest that Pawan Kalyan has agreed to allot bulk dates to Sujeeth for OG 2, potentially allowing the filmmaker to complete the sequel without the prolonged interruptions that affected the original.
Sujeeth’s Action Universe
Meanwhile, Sujeeth is currently working on a script featuring Natural Star Nani in the lead role. Tentatively titled Bloody Romeo, the project is reportedly said to be connected to the Saaho universe, although further details are yet to be officially revealed. The film is expected to go on floors soon, adding another interesting project to Sujeeth’s lineup. With OG 2 also in development, fans will be keenly watching how the filmmaker builds on the world established in the first instalment.
